Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain words, what personal data Prague Women in Business (PWIB) collects, why, how long we keep it, and how you can see, change or delete it.

Who we are

Prague Women in Business is a community for women in business in Prague, run by Gabija Adele Komarek. PWIB is responsible (the "data controller") for the data described here. Contact: hello@praguewomeninbusiness.com.

What we collect

When you become a member: your name, email, role, company, industry, professional category, LinkedIn link, and anything else you choose to add (photo, nationality, languages, bio, website, Instagram, what you want to gain and share, topics).
Your choices: that you accepted these terms, whether you want to be in the public directory, and whether you want emails from us - each with the date you chose it.
When you register for an event: your name, email and, if you tell us, who invited you.
When you write to us, offer a partnership or subscribe to the newsletter: your name, email, organisation and message.
Technical data: to stop spam, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address. We do not use tracking cookies, Google Analytics or advertising pixels. The only cookie we use keeps you signed in to your member account.

Why we use it

To run your membership and your member account (our agreement with you).
To organise events: confirm your place, send a reminder the day before, and know how many people are coming (our agreement with you).
To show your profile in the members directory - only if you ticked "show my profile" and we have checked it (your consent).
To send you news about events and the community - only if you ticked that box or subscribed (your consent).
To answer your messages and keep the website safe from spam (our legitimate interest).

We never sell your data. Your email address is never shown publicly, not even in the directory.

Who helps us

We use a few trusted services to run the website. They only process data on our instructions:

Supabase - our database and photo storage, in Ireland (EU).
Netlify - hosts the website.
Resend - sends our emails (welcome, sign-in links, event confirmations and reminders).

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, it is protected by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Member profile and photo: until you delete your account (you can do it yourself, any time).
Event registrations: up to 2 years after the event, so we can understand who comes, then deleted.
Messages to us and partner enquiries: up to 2 years.
Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
Spam-protection data: about one day.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, withdraw your consent, or object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in your member account: edit your profile, change your photo, switch the directory and emails on or off, or delete your account (this deletes your profile and photo straight away). For anything else, write to hello@praguewomeninbusiness.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Czech data protection authority (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz).

Changes

If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell members by email.
